COROSOL BG is Corofy's grade of butyl glycol, also known as ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (EGMBE). It is the standard mutual solvent in oilfield stimulation. Operators looking for a butyl glycol supplier in UAE use it to help water and oil phases work together downhole.
We supply COROSOL BG from the Jebel Ali Free Zone to well service companies, chemical blenders and drilling fluid providers in the UAE, the GCC, Africa and Asia, as part of our oil & gas chemicals.
COROSOL BG Overview
Butyl glycol (2-butoxyethanol) is a glycol ether with both a water-loving and an oil-loving end. It dissolves in water and in hydrocarbons, which is why it is called a mutual solvent.
In acidising and stimulation, a mutual solvent helps remove oil films from rock and fines, leaves surfaces water-wet, and helps reduce emulsion and sludge problems. Outside the oilfield, butyl glycol is widely used as a coupling solvent in cleaners and coatings.

Applications of COROSOL BG
COROSOL BG is used across well stimulation, fluid formulation and cleaning.
Acidising & Well Stimulation
- Mutual solvent in acid pre-flushes and treatments.
- Helps leave formation surfaces water-wet and improves acid contact.
Drilling & Completion Fluids
- Glycol-based additive in oilfield fluid formulations.
- Coupling solvent that keeps surfactant packages stable.
Cleaning & Formulation
- Coupling solvent in heavy-duty cleaners and degreasers.
- Solvent in coatings and inks.
Mutual solvents are typically used in a pre-flush ahead of the main acid stage and sometimes in the acid itself. By stripping oil coatings from rock and fines, they let the acid contact the formation more effectively and help spent acid flow back. This makes butyl glycol a routine component of many sandstone and carbonate stimulation designs.
Why Choose Corofy for COROSOL BG

Handling, Storage & Safety
Butyl glycol is harmful if swallowed, inhaled or in contact with skin, and causes eye and skin irritation. Handle COROSOL BG as described in the Safety Data Sheet, using chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection and good ventilation. It is combustible; keep drums tightly closed and store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat and oxidising agents.
