COROMUL SEV Overview
An oil-based mud is an invert emulsion: fine brine droplets dispersed in a continuous oil phase. A primary emulsifier, such as COROMUL PEV, creates this emulsion. A secondary emulsifier does a supporting job.
COROMUL SEV strengthens the emulsion and acts as a wetting agent, helping to keep barite and drilled solids oil-wet so they do not clump or settle. This is especially important when water or solids contamination puts the system under stress. As a proprietary product its composition is not published, and the ratio of SEV to PEV is set to suit each mud system.
