COROTEC D1 Overview
Natural clays such as bentonite swell in water but not in oil. Organophilic clays are clays treated with organic compounds, usually quaternary amines, which makes their surfaces compatible with oil. Once dispersed in diesel, mineral oil or synthetic base fluid, the platelets form a network that gives viscosity and gel strength.
This network suspends barite and other weighting materials and helps carry cuttings to surface. COROTEC D1 is supplied as a ready-to-use additive for oil-based and synthetic-based mud systems.
