Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (SAPP) is an acidic sodium phosphate that binds calcium and other metal ions. Corofy is a SAPP supplier in UAE, offering a technical grade for oilfield and industrial use.

From our Dubai base in JAFZA, we supply SAPP to drilling-fluid companies and service providers in the oil & gas industry, and to water-treatment and processing customers in the GCC, Africa and Asia.

SAPP Overview

SAPP (disodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate) is a white, water-soluble powder. Pyrophosphates are strong sequestering agents: they hold calcium and magnesium in solution, and they disperse fine solids by adsorbing on particle surfaces.

In water-based drilling muds, SAPP is a classic treatment for cement contamination. Its acidity lowers pH while the pyrophosphate removes calcium, which helps restore mud properties after drilling out cement. It also acts as a thinner for clay-based muds.

SAPP Specifications

Product Identification

  • Product Name: SAPP

Packaging & Documentation

  • Documentation: COA, SDS / MSDS available

Bags are palletised and wrapped for transport, which protects the powder from humidity in storage yards and on rig sites. Each lot ships with a certificate of analysis, and the SDS is available for HSE review before the product reaches location.

Applications of SAPP

Technical-grade SAPP is used where calcium control and dispersion are needed in water-based systems.

Drilling-Fluid Treatment

  • Treats cement contamination in water-based muds by lowering pH and removing calcium.
  • Acts as a thinner and deflocculant for bentonite muds.

Sequestering & Water Treatment

  • Binds hardness ions to limit scale deposits in process water.
  • Used as a processing aid where metal-ion control is needed.

Industrial Cleaning

  • Builder and sequestrant in technical cleaning formulations.

Why Choose Corofy for SAPP

Corofy combines regional stock with export know-how, so SAPP reaches rig sites and plants on time.

  • Technical-grade material in moisture-resistant 25 kg bags
  • Short lead times from our Jebel Ali Free Zone warehouse
  • COA with each batch and full export paperwork
  • Technical team that understands mud chemistry

SAPP is usually needed at short notice, when a cement job has been drilled out and the mud starts to change. Keeping it in regional stock means a small quantity can be called off quickly instead of waiting for an overseas shipment. Our team can also advise on how SAPP is typically used alongside caustic soda, lignosulphonate and other mud treatment chemicals.

Handling, Storage & Safety

SAPP is an acidic salt and can irritate the eyes and respiratory tract as dust. Store bags closed in a dry, covered area away from moisture and strong bases. Avoid dust generation, wear eye protection, gloves and a dust mask when handling, and refer to the SDS for complete guidance.
