Brake fluid transmits the force from the brake pedal to the brakes, so it has to stay liquid, resist boiling and protect the system's metal and rubber parts. Corofy is a brake fluid DOT 3 and DOT 4 supplier in UAE, providing glycol ether-based fluid in bulk drums from Dubai.

We supply brake fluid to lubricant blenders, automotive product packers, distributors and fleet workshops in the UAE, the GCC and Africa. It is part of our lubricant and automobile chemicals range.

Brake Fluid DOT 3 / DOT 4 Overview

DOT 3 and DOT 4 are glycol ether-based fluids. The DOT grades come from the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 116, which sets minimum boiling points, viscosity and other properties for each grade. DOT 4 has higher minimum boiling points than DOT 3, so it is generally used in modern vehicles, including many with ABS, and in harder-working braking systems.

Glycol-based brake fluids are hygroscopic: they absorb moisture over time, which lowers the boiling point. This is why vehicle makers specify regular fluid replacement. Always use the grade named in the vehicle's handbook.

Brake fluid that has absorbed water boils more easily under hard braking, which can cause vapour lock and a soft pedal. Sealed storage and correct grade selection are therefore just as important for distributors as for workshops.

FMVSS 116 Minimum Boiling Points

GradeDry boiling point (min.)Wet boiling point (min.)
DOT 3205 °C140 °C
DOT 4230 °C155 °C

The wet boiling point is measured after the fluid has absorbed about 3.7% water, which shows how it performs after a period of service.

Brake Fluid DOT 3 / DOT 4 Specifications

Product Identification

  • Product Name: Brake Fluid DOT 3 / DOT 4

Packaging & Documentation

  • Documentation: COA, SDS / MSDS available

Drums are supplied sealed to protect the fluid from moisture. Please state the grade, DOT 3 or DOT 4, with each order.

Applications of Brake Fluid DOT 3 / DOT 4

Brake fluid is used wherever hydraulic brakes or clutches rely on a glycol-based fluid.

Passenger Cars & Light Trucks

  • DOT 3 for vehicles whose makers specify DOT 3 fluid.
  • DOT 4 for vehicles specifying DOT 4, including many ABS-equipped models.

Motorcycles & Hydraulic Clutches

  • Brake and clutch systems that specify DOT 3 or DOT 4.
  • Workshop top-up and fluid replacement.

Packers & Distributors

  • Bulk drums for filling into retail bottles under the buyer's own brand.
  • Supply to fleet operators and service centres.

Why Choose Corofy for Brake Fluid DOT 3 / DOT 4

Corofy offers both grades from one supplier, with documentation suited to automotive distributors.

  • DOT 3 and DOT 4 grades available from Dubai
  • 200 kg drums for repackers and workshops
  • COA and SDS with each shipment
  • Export paperwork for GCC and African markets

Distributors who fill their own retail packs can order both grades together and receive matching COAs for each batch, which makes it simpler to trace each product back to its source.

Brake Fluid FAQs

Can DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluid be mixed?

Both are glycol-based and compatible, so mixing will not damage the system. The mixture only performs to the lower grade, though, so use the grade the vehicle maker specifies.

Can DOT 4 be used instead of DOT 3?

In most vehicles that specify DOT 3, DOT 4 can be used, since it meets higher boiling-point limits. Always check the vehicle handbook first.

How often should brake fluid be replaced?

Because glycol-based fluid absorbs moisture, most vehicle makers set a replacement interval, often around every two years. Follow the interval in the vehicle handbook.

Handling, Storage & Safety

Keep drums tightly sealed, because the fluid absorbs moisture from the air, and store in a dry, cool place. Brake fluid is harmful if swallowed and can damage paintwork, so wipe up spills promptly. Do not mix glycol-based DOT 3 / DOT 4 fluids with silicone-based (DOT 5) or mineral-oil brake fluids. Follow the SDS for handling and PPE.
