COROL CMC LV Overview
CMC is a sodium salt of carboxymethylated cellulose. In a drilling fluid it adsorbs on clay and helps form a tight filter cake, which lowers the volume of filtrate lost to permeable formations. The LV grade has short polymer chains, so it reduces fluid loss with only a small effect on viscosity.
This makes CMC LV the choice for weighted muds or systems where rheology is already high. CMC is generally more sensitive to salt and hardness than PAC, so in saline muds our COROL PAC HV or a PAC grade may perform better.

Handling, Storage & Safety
CMC is generally of low hazard, but its dust can irritate the eyes and airways and fine dust clouds can be combustible. Keep bags dry and closed to prevent lumping. Wet spills are slippery. Wear eye protection and a dust mask, and follow the SDS.
