HYDRONEX 2910 Overview
Nitrite is an anodic inhibitor: it helps form and maintain a protective oxide film on steel surfaces. Nitrite-based programmes are widely used in closed loops, where the treatment stays in the system and the inhibitor level can be held steady.
HYDRONEX 2910 differs from HYDRONEX CT1001, which is meant for corrosion and scale control, and from HYDRONEX DP02, a dispersant. Nitrite levels in a closed loop should be checked regularly, because nitrite can be consumed by bacteria or diluted by make-up water.
In practice, closed-loop treatment is checked by testing the nitrite level, along with pH and conductivity, at regular intervals. A steady inhibitor level, without large losses of system water, is what keeps protection in place over time.

Handling, Storage & Safety
Nitrite-based products are generally toxic if swallowed and must not be mixed with acids, which can release toxic nitrogen oxide gases. HYDRONEX 2910 is not for use in drinking-water systems. Store drums closed, in a cool, dry area away from acids and reducing agents, wear gloves and eye protection, and follow the SDS.
