Calcium Hypochlorite Overview
Calcium hypochlorite, Ca(OCl)2, is a strong oxidising agent. Its strength is expressed as available chlorine. Because it is a solid, it is easier to store and transport than liquid sodium hypochlorite and keeps its strength better over time.
In water it forms hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite ions, the active disinfecting species. It also oxidises organic matter, iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide, which helps with taste, odour and colour control.

Store it in a cool, dry, ventilated place in its original closed container, away from acids, ammonia, organic materials, fuels and other chemicals. Contact with acids releases chlorine gas, and contamination can cause fire. Never add water to the product; add the product to water. Wear eye, skin and respiratory protection as set out in the SDS.
