COMOL SLS Overview
Lignosulfonates are by-products of the sulfite pulping of wood. They are water-soluble anionic polymers with many sulfonate groups, which let them adsorb onto solid particles and keep them apart by electrostatic and steric repulsion. This makes them effective dispersants for finely ground solids.
In agrochemicals, sodium lignosulfonate is widely used in wettable powders (WP) and water-dispersible granules (WDG). It helps the particles disperse when the product is added to water and also acts as a binder that holds granules together until they meet water. Note that COMOL SLS is sodium lignosulfonate, not sodium lauryl sulfate, which shares the same abbreviation.
