Perchloroethylene, also known as tetrachloroethylene or PCE, is a dense, non-flammable chlorinated solvent. In refineries it is used as a chloriding agent for reforming and isomerisation catalysts, and elsewhere it is a dry-cleaning and degreasing solvent. Corofy is a perchloroethylene supplier in UAE, delivering it from Dubai.
We supply perchloroethylene to refineries, dry-cleaning operators and industrial users in the UAE, the GCC and export markets. It is listed in our refinery chemicals range.
Perchloroethylene Overview
Catalytic reforming and isomerisation units use platinum catalysts on a chlorided alumina support. The chloride level on the catalyst falls during operation, so a chlorine-containing compound such as perchloroethylene is injected to keep catalyst activity at the right level.
As a solvent, perchloroethylene dissolves oils, fats and greases well and does not burn, which is why it has long been used in dry cleaning and metal degreasing.
In reformers and isomerisation units, chloriding agent is injected at a controlled rate as set by the unit's process licensor and operating guidelines. Perchloroethylene is one of the common chloriding agents because it delivers a high chlorine content per unit of weight.
Perchloroethylene Specifications
Product Identification
- Product Name: Perchloroethylene
Packaging & Documentation
- Documentation: COA, SDS / MSDS available
Perchloroethylene is a dense liquid, which is why drums hold a higher weight than drums of lighter solvents. Drums are sealed and labelled for transport.
Applications of Perchloroethylene
Perchloroethylene has both refinery and general industrial uses.
Refinery Catalyst Chloriding
- Chloriding agent for catalytic reforming units.
- Chloride make-up for isomerisation unit catalysts.
Dry Cleaning
- Cleaning solvent in dry-cleaning machines.
- Removes oils and greases from fabrics.
Industrial Degreasing
- Vapour and cold degreasing of metal parts.
- Solvent in some industrial cleaning processes.
Why Choose Corofy for Perchloroethylene
Corofy supplies perchloroethylene with the documentation needed for a regulated solvent.
- Supply to refinery and industrial customers
- 280 kg drums from Dubai
- COA and SDS for each shipment
- Export documentation handled by our logistics team
We can supply perchloroethylene for scheduled catalyst chloride make-up and plan deliveries around a refinery's injection programme.
Handling, Storage & Safety
Perchloroethylene is suspected of causing cancer, can cause drowsiness or dizziness and skin and eye irritation, and is toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Use it only with good ventilation or local exhaust, wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection, keep drums tightly closed in a cool place, and do not let it reach drains or soil. Its use is restricted in some markets, so buyers should check local regulations. Follow the SDS in full.
